Cefovecin

BRIEF: for the treatment of skin infections (such as secondary superficial pyoderma, abscess and trauma) caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus sensitive strains in dogs, urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli and / or Proteus, skin infections caused by Pasteurella multocida and glucococci and urethral infections caused by Escherichia coli in cats.

Mechanism of action: cefacime belongs to cephalosporin antibiotics. Its mechanism of action is similar to that of other β - lactam antibiotics. It can inhibit the synthesis of cell wall mucin, that is, penicillin binding protein, thus hindering the synthesis of cell wall mucin, causing bacterial cell wall damage and cell expansion and lysis. It is a bactericide in the reproductive period. Cefacime has a wide spectrum of antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, proteus, Klebsiella (including Klebsiella pneumoniae), β - hemolytic streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus and anaerobic bacteria including Fusobacterium, Bacteroides, Prevotella, Corynebacterium and Clostridium. Most of the third generation cephalosporins will be inactivated in the stomach, and the duodenum will limit the absorption of drugs, so oral administration is not feasible. Cefacime is usually administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous injection in the form of cefotaxin sodium injection. Cephalosporin is different from other cephalosporins in that it has a high protein binding rate, so its activity is maintained for a long time; it is hydrophilic and mainly distributed in the extracellular fluid. Cefacime was only slightly metabolized in liver and excreted mainly in urine.
