BRIEF: Rifabutin (LM427) is a rifamycin derivative containing a spiperazinyl group with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Its mechanism of action is the same as that of rifampicin. It can form a stable binding with the microbial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase β subunit, inhibit the enzyme activity, and thereby inhibit the synthesis of bacterial RNA.
